Reg McGuire - Ward 4 Councilor

What You Can Count On- A new grounded perspective on local issues, strong working relationships, real cooperation, clear communication and financial discipline for all tax payers.  I’m running because I care deeply about preserving the character of Woods Bay while keeping it vibrant and sustainable.

About My Campaign

The South Archipelago requires a different strategy.

With my collective experience as president of the WBCA and cooperation with the SSCA, I pushed for transparency on some key local issues:

Backlot severance application in conflict with the Township’s Official Plan — a concern that is even more important now, after the OLT’s decision supporting the severance.

Tree bylaw proposal assembled by cherry picking the harshest rules from other districts, many of which were subsequently changed/cancelled. We pushed for changes, defending private property owner rights and highlighting the conflict with FireSmart principles.

All good reasons for fresh, practical, balanced voices on Council.

Transparency in Governance

Community Investment

Our campaign is centered around transparency in how township funds are allocated. We believe in making informed investments that directly benefit Ward 4, ensuring that every decision reflects the needs and desires of our community.

Woods Bay Study

From Study to Action

Woods Bay is the only place in Ward 4 and in the Township's Southern Georgian Bay region where road meets the shore.  This makes it a very strategic point for our Ward.  I will work to ensure that the study provides real results with respect to access of people as well as goods and services.

Township Assets in the South

Giving Us Space

I will work to secure public land in the Woods Bay area to preserve water access needs.  Currently Woods Bay lacks any community resources and property (other than the transfer station).  I will ensure that steps are made to secure access by investigating how public land can help secure our future, providing critical emergency infrastructure for ORNGE, local institutions, and community needs.

Maintaining Our Artery

Healey Lake Road Revitalization

Create a proper plan to fix and maintain our only lifeline to the bay, Healey Lake Road.  Ensuring that proper investment is made to maintain it's long term viability as our only road to Georgian Bay in the South.
